Place: Wherever my family and my friends are, I would consider that my place. I want to be surrounded by people who love me and people who I love. The feeling of belonging makes me happy and valued because I love to be social and be around the people who are important to me. Your own type of place is up to you, where you value your time and yourself in the most.

Community: Being a part of a whole means you share a similarity or something in common. If you are a part of your community, you are a part of something bigger because you contribute to many other lives other than yourself. For example, sometimes for community service, I go to Kanewai Loʻi to give back and there are people from the community that I am from that helps out.

Especially at Kamehameha Schools, the buildingʻs names are associated with people that are related to King Kamehameha the Great or have impacted Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop. Most of the buildings on campus are named in Hawaiian, the only two buildings that aren't named in Hawaiian are Smith Office and the Midkiff Learning Center. In the recent years, teachers and students have been pushing to change to the of Smith Office to Kamakaʻeha. William Owen Smith, for whom the office is named after, was one of the first trustees of the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate, which is helped establish. Frank E. Midkiff, for whom the learning center is named after, was one of the presidents of Kamehameha Schools and became a trustee of Bishop Memorial Church of Kamehameha Schools. These two non-Hawaiians made an impact on so many lives in the Hawaiian society that we dedicated a building to each of them.
